Forecasting Models:
What forecast model should I choose? The GFS model is probably the overall best, but it can be helpful to look at other models for another opinion on what might happen in the future. Check out the Model Output Statistics (MOS) page and the links below for more information.
     Global Forecasting System (GFS): This is the flagship forecasting model from the National Weather Service and the default for this site. It is updated four times per day (2 AM ET, 8 AM ET, 2 PM ET, 8 PM ET).
     North American Model (NAM): This model is designed to more accurately model smaller scale events (i.e. thunderstorms) while GFS is designed for larger scale events like hurricanes. It is updated twice per day (8 AM ET, 8 PM ET).
